Attitude
These days, I am suffering from a free-floating bad attitude. Frequently, life works something like this:
event/situation —> attitude
That is, something happens, be it good or bad, and you react accordingly. If it's bad, you get in a grouchy mood. If it's good, then you get in a happy mood. Probably not the best way to go through life, being tossed all about by constantly changing circumstances, but at least there's an explainability (is that a word?) to it all.
What we fear are the times when that gets reversed. Today, my life is like this:
attitude —> event/situation
The scary thing is that, if you want to have a bad attitude, you can always find something to attach that bad attitude to. And oftentimes, it's legitimate. If you don't have things in your life that piss you off so bad that you want to haul off and smack the everloving crap out of some people...well, I envy you. Want to trade lives for a while?
I suppose that rising above is the key, but I am not so good at that. If any of you out there are, let me know.

nope...not good at that. Sorry.
And frankly, I don't think anyone is. I don't buy that some people roll with the punches. I think they go home and have nervous breakdowns. Especially because they're so busy putting on the happy face out in public. Repression is never a good thing. If they just let the world see that they're a mess they'd feel a lot better. I do. :)
