Selena Gomez

According to an article I read a few days ago, Selena Gomez is the new Miley Cyrus. She stars in a tweeny show on the Disney channel about tweeny angst, is pretty in that tweeny, flowing-hair, non-threatening way that Miley is pretty (Vanity Fair pictures notwithstanding), and is coming out with an album of tweeny pop.

However, lest you think she is nothing but a desperate Hannah Montana clone, her show has a wrinkle of which even Miley herself cannot boast. In her show, Selena plays a young wizard attempting to come to grips with her wizardness.

In other words:

Miley Cyrus + Harry Potter = Selena Gomez.

Talk about knowing your target audience. Somewhere out there, a marketing guy deserves a raise.
