Moment of "Truth"
I didn't watch the new Fox series "The Moment of Truth" on Wednesday. I honestly couldn't have even told you it aired on Wednesday, despite being subjected to umpteen million commercials for it during NFL games.
I fail to see the shocking or horrifying aspect of the game. If people want to be assholes, embarrassing themselves and their families on national TV all in the name of a quick buck...well, welcome to reality TV. How were those last 10 years you spent under a rock? People know just what they're getting themselves into, and there's no standing in the way of a dumbass. With or without this show, they'd find a way to bring shame upon themselves and, with a little luck, shame upon all of humanity just by their very existence.
So whatever. But instead of offering that defense, Mike Darnell, "president of alternative entertainment" and general Fox tool, says that all he cares about is "causing a dialogue about telling the truth." I'm so sure. And money or ratings has absolutely nothing to do with it, right? Good thing he wasn't strapped up to the show's lie detector machine when he said that.
The implausible lie lives on.
